I had a special spigot with my Reverse Osmosis unit. It used twenty five gallons of water as I recall to produce one gallon of drinking water. You might want to check these facts out.

I had this installed in my home in 1986 and used it for ten years. I think they may do better now so I am no judge of
consumption in todays machines.
