The USA spends more per capita than everyone else even though all of capita isn't getting all the health care that it needs. If the Canadians or the French or the Taiwanese were to spend what we spend per capita, their systems would far eclipse ours.

The reality is that the US health care system sucks and it is getting worse. Most people do not need cutting edge care, most people need to remain healthy on a daily basis for as long as they live.

The health care system isn't about promoting health, it is about profiting from sickness. It is about surgery where pain medication will do or drugs where a change in diet is called for. When you are in a for-profit mode, sickness is where all the action is.

When the system becomes all about expense and not profit, we can put resources where they count: prevention, efficiency and cure. What drug company wants to cure when they can make money from chronic illness held at bay for a large population by expensive, frequent, patented medication for life?
