He's pissed the liberals off because his administration is shaping up to look pretty much like the Bush administration. The foreign policy is the same. And it would appear he is floundering about, just like Bush, trying to figure out how to deal with the economic crisis. Economic cycles happen and they don't much care about politics. Obama's going to spend money to try and fix it. And Bush has spent money trying to fix it. Yet, the economy is doing what it wants to do. I wonder why we bothered with an election at all.
