i traded metal stocks back in the later 90's when copper zinc prices were dirt cheap and companies were producing like mad.

i think this time could be different due to the consolidation and concentration of the last few years. a lot of these deals were also done with decent levels of share issuance, which may hit EPS, but at least doesn't have bankers staring over their shoulders - Teck excluded of course!
