'Seems like still a lot of hope out there for all this recession / depression talk' - you think so? ... seems to me nothing but negative hype all over the media, they give 'The Economy' a lot more airtime and ink than they did when things were rolling, it's incessant ... everybody i know has their horns pulled in, not buying anything not flying anywhere ... two couples we know are selling second houses, one a really sweet place with total privacy, that they've already got rented out for good money, and they're not at all strapped, they could simply wait this out and do far better on the next cycle, they'll get next to nothing now

It's the mirror image of all the happy-talk at tops, only more intense by far, due to being driven by fear which comes from the snake-brain as opposed to greed which comes from what, the belly or the crotch ... but fear is as blind as the greed, and both always spend themselves somewhere

The months keep grinding on, it's over a year now since tops in indices, so many charts look like cliffsides now, and some of that stuff is quality, able to survive even extended tough times and be ready to roll when life begins anew ... not saying anything is going to the moon next year, but imho a lot are prime for bounces with any degree of encouragement from their commodities

Sunspot cycle is not auspicious, granted

First year of US presidential cycle tends to have the least chances, yes

It's been a hell of a crash and this species may not be programmed to recover from such drama any faster than it has recovered before, sure that's a possibility

On the other hand - every day on this planet we burn up enough oil to fill a cube of 750 feet on a side, and we're finding what, about a fifth of that ... the chinese alone use 9.25 tonnes of copper per minute, every minute, 24/7/365 ... maybe we'll find out later they were actually having big recession and using 'only' 7 tonnes per minute, still that's a lot of metal and would use up the LME stocks du jour in 42,000 minutes, less than one month

Significant signs of recovery by mid-09, i betcha ... in the meantime, a stable enough basing pattern that special situations will catch interest, imho ngd.to, dmm.to, ml.to and a few others are in this category ... i had an order in on cll.to too, pulled it to use the cash elsewhere, forget where, but it's on watchlist for sure ... got a few aos.v and yes, hoping for lower there, it's like a trx.v of oilsands, way out of the money but with no expiry date either, some of the ferts are in that class too

Interesting collection you have, eclectic ... ihub, gee haven't been over there for ages, must use some of these long winter nights to check it out
