If your issue is unlawful discrimination, you have to make the case that gays are receiving unequal treatment and/or they are being disadvantaged somehow. They have every access to the same treatment heterosexual couples have and in every way their bonding contracts, unions, agreements are equal. Except they are not heterosexual marriages and calling their unions marriages wont get them any closer.
