"no reason to expect the N.A. would be a problem"

HOW do you know that? Did you see State Department analysis on it? If you have no reason to expect something and then that something happens, then you probably weren't very accurate in your expectations.

Just like they thought that banning the Sunnis from government jobs and disbanding the Iraqi Army would be no problem. They had no reason to expect otherwise, right?

As far as I can tell, Iran, has WON the war in Iraq, not us.
They have a friendly Shiite nation on their border rather than the mortal enemy Sunni nation run by Hussein. Being a "democracy", the Shiite majority in Iraq is now open to electing a Fundamentalist Muslim as head of state and declaring Sharia Law.

Bush didn't PREVENT any future attacks. He provided the catalyst for the Madrid and London bombings. He turned a fanatical group called Al Qeada (of maybe 1500) and turned it into an International group of 100's of thousands.
