C-Lock News C-Lock(TM) Announces General Availability (GA) Status for Two GreenCert(TM) Software Products
DENVER, Dec 10, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- C-Lock Technology Inc. has completed testing of two web-based GreenCert(TM) software products for the accurate measurement and verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. GreenCert is now in "General Availability" status for market deployment in the agriculture and power generation industries.
The first two C-Lock(TM) GreenCert products are combined solution sets that integrate IBM software products and tools with new, customized C-Lock Technology Inc. software processes, which are patented globally, for the complex task of precise and accurate GHG emissions measurement. The IBM framework platform is based upon a service-oriented architecture (SOA) that brings together a very comprehensive set of software that includes real-time communications through an Enterprise Service Bus, data collection, extensive correlation processes and the integration of large-scale models. The IBM SOA provides an architecture that meets the current scope of GHG processing demands, but also has a scalability dimension for both worldwide applications and large enterprise applications.
In late October 2008, IBM unveiled new software and services to help businesses address energy efficiency challenges and create environmental business metrics. As part of that announcement, IBM cited the release of GreenCert as a greenhouse gas meter that "helps organizations in multiple industries measure, verify and report GHG emissions with an emphasis on carbon management." The announcement said that GreenCert was in beta testing with power and utility plants and that it was the product of collaboration between IBM Software Group, Enterprise Information Management (EIM, a premier IBM Business Partner for integration services), and C-Lock Technology, Inc.
These accurate GHG measurements are the measurement quantifications necessary to create certified, verified emission credits for both the energy and agriculture industries, two sectors whose emissions make up the largest component of global GHG emissions. In addition to the precise and accurate measurement capabilities, the solution's ability to ingest massive amounts of data in real-time provides an enterprise-wide management information system for carbon asset management.
The GreenCert energy module was measured against Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) data as reported to the EPA by utilities and was the basis for C-Lock's accuracy measurement.
The GreenCert agriculture module has been tested on farmland under contract to C-Lock in the states of Minnesota, North and South Dakota - specifically with those farmers that have followed U.S. Department of Agriculture conservation management practices that result in effective sequestration or capture of carbon dioxide (CO2) in soil and vegetation. The results of these agriculture measurements are being quantified into C-Lock carbon credits, and after independent verification, will be available for sale at the end of December on either a public exchange or through private placement.
"The progression of the GreenCert solution to General Availability status marks a significant milestone on the way to GreenCert becoming the global leader for the precise, accurate, verifiable and transparent measurement of GHG emissions," said Jim Bitonti, C-Lock president, who praised C-Lock partners IBM and EIM for helping to achieve this milestone. "Our business and technology strategy incorporated an investment strategy to first develop software products that are comprehensive, and then engage the worldwide marketing and deployment resources of IBM and EIM."
"With new carbon emissions regulations and legislation expected to emerge from Washington, C-Lock is positioned to capitalize on present and future GHG regulations that are or will be in place around the world," said Vince Cook, C-Lock chairman and CEO. "Having these energy and agriculture products ready for deployment is an important step that directly relates to C-Lock's mission to become the world's most accurate tool for measuring GHG emissions," added Cook.
