If Shelby doesn't filibuster the bill then he's just posturing for his constituency. I have heard that the majority of people ( I think maybe 2/3rds) do not want a bail out of the automakers even when they acknowledge they will be affected economically.

It's an odd situation.

IMO people are sick to death of bailing out multimillionaires period. Detroit has very bad timing.

Paulson, Kashkari, Bush, Bernanke and even the Dems have done a piss poor job of the financial bail out. I know people were frightened to death (shades of 911) when Paulson came screaming at them that weekend but the Dems should pull the money back and ask for his resignation.

IMO THAT is the problem. People are sick to death of taxpayer monies going into the big black hole and have no faith that this money will be spent well.
