I feel the same way. There was another article, saying that GOP asked that wages of Big 3 be brought in line with the transplants (still very generous $40s per hour including benefits) but UAW refused. They need to realize that the days in which the UAW can strongarm these companies has to come to an end. I think it is now. UAW is in a tough spot here, and they have to know that. With the Republicans, correctly, standing up against the bailout, the other choice is Chapter 11. It they don't make the decision to accept more reasonable pay, some bankruptcy judge is going to make it for them. No sensible lender or consortium of lenders is going to fork over more money to these companies only to have it handed over to the sinkhole UAW. I consider this a win.
