I find it VERY surprising that Wagoner would say December sales were strong, and cannot find that quote anywhere. I did just read that GM is closing 21 North American assembly plants for the entire month of January. That is huge and will most certainly raise consumer fears of losing their jobs, which will further depress consumer spending.

I wonder how many of those assembly plants will ever re-open.
