Back in 1982, a friend of mine had a Diesel Chevette. What a POS that car was

But I'll bet it got around 50 MPG before it fell apart.. (VBG) I drove an early 80's Volkswagen 4 banger diesel pickup (company rig) that would rattle the fillings out of your teeth.

Right up (or down) there with the AMC Pacer, the Yugo and the Renault Le Car in the s**t box category.

I agree, except for the Pacer. It was certainly strange looking (they're collectors these days, BTW, Wayne's World, LOL), but mechanically sound.

A couple of months ago, a 93 year old neighbor passed away and his daughter sold me his one owner, low mile 1984 Cadillac Cimarron, the biggest embarrassment ever to wear the Cadillac badge. It's an absolute strippo with a 4 cylinder and a 5 speed stick and gets an honest 35 MPG. It's probably the only one left alive. I kinda like it.. :)

I'm a car nut, but this isn't a car thread, so I'll leave the OT after this.
