What you call "progressivism and unity" is what I call socialism and the eroding of individual liberties in the name of collectivism. Lots of people in the EU are now realizing that, which is why in France, for example, Sarkozy was recently elected.

There are degrees of what you call "socialism". Some European countries, like France for instance, have gone too far, and anything in extreme degrees can be harmful...but no nation can exist without some degree of "socialism"...the roads you drive on, the schools your children attend, and so on, are "socialism".
Your second point is puzzling...you are not suggesting that Europeans are losing individual liberties, are you?

As for Rush and Palin, most of us real conservatives know what they stand for. "Polarizing" is just a label given to those who don't agree with your world views.

There's no issue with WHAT they stand for, but with HOW they convey what they stand for. Sorry, but these "conservatives" pit people against people...that's my issue with them and Powell's message during the interview.
