To All:
Remember the Fall of 1995? We were going through a similar period then with regard to tech stocks and Intel in particular. Much of the year's gains were eliminated during the fourth quarter and Intel closed 1995 in the 50s or low 60s. Hot money was chasing the latest trend on advice from Wall Street just as it is today. There were a number of challenges facing Intel then just as there are today although they were different challenges. There was a lengthy story in the Sunday New York Times touting Intel's manufacturing capabilities back then. Now we have an entire issue of Worth Magazine devoted to Intel. At the same time the stock is getting rocked.
1996 and most of 1997 have seen most good tech companies and particularly Intel have great performances. I'll bet you we see a repeat of that period in the not too distant future. Who cares what the stock does today or tomorrow? The financial press cares because they sell news not advice. For news to sell there has to be some drama. Unless something fundamentally changes (ie. Intel's entire management group leaves the company together) my advice to myself and to anyone else who cares to listen is to focus on "years" not "hours". This company has made a lot of investors wealthy and IMHO will continue to do so for a long time to come.
