Actually - the prime windmill land in the USA is not in the desert. I think you also neglect to consider the number of roads required to service all those windmills - that would definitely have an impact on the ground - windmills need constant attention and need repair quite often with lifespans of less than 20 years.

Notice how Mass. has some really good areas - but that stoopid Dem Kennedy didn't like the look of them.
