The "safest" way to buy corporate HY bonds is HYG, a bond index ETF with no leverage and a wide spread of underlying securities:

"The Fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the U.S. dollar high yield corporate bond market as defined by the iBoxx $ Liquid High Yield Index. The Fund generally invests at least 90 percent of its assets in component securities of its Underlying Index. The Fund may invest up to 20 percent of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents, including money market funds."

It currently yields 13%.
