And we all know about the Government,don't we?When they run out of money Government can raise taxes,borrow more money etc, while on the other hand what the heck GTE is gonna do? As I learn more about this GTE deal with MCI, I am begining to doubt the viability of the merger. GTE is a good company as it is, why spoil it with this merger.It may sound good on paper,but assuming such heavy debt could jeopardise any company,no matter how good they are.No point in merging/buying another company, 'cuz everyone else is doing it, reminds me of the 'go-go' 80s, we all know about them leverage buyouts,mergers and things. Why in the heck GTE want to be an 'also ran' company,is beyond me. The only explanation I can come with is this Lee guy want to be the 'CHIEF', and don't want to be a second fiddle in case of a merger with another company etc. To sacrifice GTE to fulfill his petty ambitions is despicable.
