Thanks for your observations and experiences. This exercise was a response to some folks who 'didn't have a clue' about the theory of a linkage between the Open Interest and the price of the underlying issue at expiry time. I had posted a reference to an article by the Investor Research Institute on the board stating that the was a huge upswing in Nov 45 Call options and the potential problems the stock might have overcoming the large positions at 40 and 45.
With 30 days to go, I would expect the contours to change.

And with today's Hong Kong meltdown........ all bets may be off and the question may be moot. (Whenever I use that word, I remember that Saturday Night Live sketch with Rev Jesse Jackson as the 'game show host' of the show 'The Question is Moot'.) :-)
