CHARLESTON -- A coal-to-liquids plant planned to be built in Mingo county could receive millions in tax breaks under West Virginia's economic development incentives program.

The proposed plant may receive more than $600 million in tax breaks. According to published reports, under existing law, the plant would be eligible to receive tax credits worth 20 percent of its capital investment.

The project would also be eligible for other incentives including assistance for employee training and infrastructure needs.

The proposal for the coal-to-liquids plant by Governor Joe Manchin was announced last week at the Energy Summit at the Stonewall Resort.
