My problem with pretty much all of the domestic port-like creations is that they are either quite expensive or, if not, and not bad, they are still more than the Krohn, which is a lot cheaper. So, interesting to taste, but a dubious value. I am more inclined to those who make something that doesn't tend to just imitate port, but is its own thing, like the VLH from Sapphire Hill I mentioned. The one really notable exception to this was a 1979 Quady I had about a dozen years ago in a head to head tasting with some 1979 Portugese ports ... a 99 year for them. The Quady held its own ... but then it cost me about $75 too.
