Oh Fran, I am so sorry to hear this and I certainly will pray for you and Maggie that her cancer has not spread, but if it has I think you will know when it is time to let her her go.

I lost a very wonderful companion who was 15 years old. She was just such an intelligent dog. When her time came I just cried and cried over that decision and my wonderful Mom and her best friend took her to the Vets for me and brought her body back to me and we buried her in our back yard with a little headstone we made.

Most of our animals have lived long lives and with each one we were just overcome with grief. We haven't replaced them, but have gone on to have other animals to love. Time seems to help, but having animals in your family I think is a must. Most are just so loyal and seem to know when you need them around you and are quite loving at that time.
