People do not want to go further into debt, and do not plan on buying new cars. And they aren't buying from healthy companies like Toyota either. That is why Toyota has suspended work on its new plant in Mississippi indefinitely. People are not going to go further into debt until this financial mess is resolved. That could be years, and no amount of govt money is going to solve this problem for the auto industry. Their only option is to file Chapter 11 and reorganize. Get leaner and meaner.
