WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 1997--HEARx Ltd. (AMEX:EAR) Wednesday announced that it has been awarded contracts to provide hearing care for the members of three additional health insurers in Florida and the New York area covering either a hearing aid benefit or diagnostic audiology.
AMERIHEALTH HMO INC., New York, will be referring members to HEARx's existing network in New York while BEECH STREET CORPORATION and ONE HEALTH PLAN OF FLORIDA INC. will refer their patients to HEARx's network of Florida centers.
"All this will be incremental business for our established network of company-owned stores in both our Florida and Northeast markets," said Paul A. Brown, M.D., chairman of HEARx Ltd. "These three new contracts bring the total number of health insurers who contract with us to 64, with a number of other contracts still pending."
HEARx is the largest audiology-based professional hearing care network in the U.S. It operates 74 company-owned centers in the $2 billion U.S. hearing services industry. Centers are located in Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The company provides hearing care primarily to patients whose health insurance and managed care organizations have contracted with HEARx.
