>>>the velocity of money is just crashing<<<

I don't doubt you a bit. Where do you find data/graphs for this.

As far as I can tell, the credit markets are still very tight. LIBOR has come down a tad - but not much.

Query for the board:

I have been in the market for (another) used Mercedes for a while. I always wait for a cherry. My wife's Toyota has suddenly gotten real shaky so I am in the market a little more intensely.

I would think that with the MBs piling up in the warehouses in the Port of Los Angeles, that the bottom would be getting pushed out of the used market.

OTOH, with the layoffs the supply of used might dry up pushing used prices higher.

Maybe the best spot is to go find a dealer where the leases are expiring. I hear that are really getting clobbered as the renewal rates are way down. Those who would renew probably know that they can get a steal on new ones.

So where is the biggest squeeze or best deals in the auto chain??? All opinions welcome.

Also - my wife's parents almost gave us their Toyota Avalon. its a nice car but it was 2,000 miles away. There are a bunch used here near DC through eBay. Thoughts on the Avalon???

I really love my bullet proof MB diesels but my wife likes her Toyotas. Gotta keep an open mind.
