Neo, your ideological fantasies have led you to want BIG BROTHER kleptocratic bureaucracy to rule the world in ever greater detail: <Hedge funds and derivatives were largely unregulated, and that is where the problem lies. >

It is not surprising that people who borrowed too much to buy assets which were too expensive are in trouble as are the lenders who loaned to people who obviously would not be able to repay the loans or service the interest.

That problem goes back 1000s of years. It's called greed and stupidity.

You presumably think that if there's a government loans officer to supervise all contracts then things will be better. That will mean extra costs on every contract to achieve nothing because the loans officers will work from premises even more faulty than those of the borrowers and lenders who at least have their self-interest at stake.

The loans control officers [hordes of them will be required] will cause delays, costs and even bigger mistakes because people will foolishly presume that the government knows what it's doing. Governments are bad at running business decisions. They can't even run their own departments.

Is there anything you think governments should not run?
