So do you think it was stupid and destructive to put huge taxes on cigarettes and allow insurance companies to charge smokers more and to award huge damages against the cigarette companies? The impact of cigarettes and the cost has been very harmful to our society. Sure cigarettes made people a lot of money and provided jobs, but the overall effect was negative to our economy and society. The impacts of oil and coal are the same. we just haven't reached general willingness to acknowledge this fact yet.
