I was not suggesting to 'let them go down the tubes'.

I suggest reorganizing them (in a pre-packaged, government supported reorganization under the auspices of a bankruptcy court) to allow them to become stronger and revitalized.

ANYTHING that *doesn't slash their debt loads* (by at least 1/2 or 2/3) will only guarantee that they STAY WEAK... unable to add jobs, or innovate.
