I think it's more than that, too. The kind of a mindset of a person the goes to HBS isn't that of a guy that believes he has the talent, ambition and drive to start a business from nothing. As you said, established corporations compete for those HBS grads. A startup guy wouldn't be interested in that sort of a career with clearly laid out paths of advancement, where cut-throat office politics often determine advancement. They want to cut their own path with a machete. Two of the most famous didn't even graduate from college, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. I'd be curious to know the correlations among the most successful of startup founders. Schools, hobbies, etc.
