I don't know that it's a bad thing.. it's just that we don't produce enough of it domestically to meet our demands. We certainly have sufficient natural gas to meed our transportation needs for several decades, so would it be a bad thing to exploit those deposits?

The sooner we get oil independent the better.

I'm glad we can all count on your support for off-shore drilling and opening up ANWR. Exploiting those oil reserves would put a significant dent in our foreign imports. And hopefully we can still see a energy policy that both meets our national security needs, as well as making economic sense.

And maybe, someday, electric vehicles will be as cost-effective as fossil fueled vehicles.
