I am not being flippant, the difference in wages does not reflect any particular skill set, just geography. I would be interested in seeing how productivity is measured between the US and the Mexican workers. This is not just a car problem, but a total industrial problem for the US. Why should a guy in Detroit be paid 8 times as much as a guy in Mexico for doing the same job? Or are we going to solve the problem by tariffs? Until we accept that we are overpaid for our labor, this issue will resurface over and over.
