If both the 1873 and 1929 crashes provide a road map (and so far they have), then major forced liquidations during market collapses happen in the fall (October, then November). Then the markets recover slightly with some volatility till the end of year and a new year rally ensues for the next several months.

Not saying it will play out the same way but I recall reading an article last week on Bloomberg about two large hedge funds only allowing redemptions as early as March 31.

I guess we'll see what happens as usual....
