I think what the government needs to do if it really wants to give Detroit a chance (not necessarily SAVE Detroit) is to remove the retired worker liabilities from Detroit's shoulders. Part of it could be universal health care, but the government also needs to assume the pension obligations. The pensioners should agree to reduced benefits as well.

I want to see Shorty and Noudie trade in their SUVs and be forced to drive those stupid looking 'Smart Cars'. The humilitation would do them good after they fuked up the country so bad.
