LJ, in Scenario #1, if that ever came to pass, Bush would still not be 'right' because that isn't why he went in. Oh, sure, that's what he said later, after the lie about WMD evaporated in a barrel of refuse.

But even the 'democracy' was a lie. The point of the invasion was to control the distribution of oil and extend the American empire. The reason we are backing out (or will) is that it has all be a horrific failure and has cost our country dearly.

There is no possible 'right' in any of this. The motives, the actions, the gitmo, the deficit, the demise of our standing in the world, the dead, the low level radiation.

The only conceivable 'vindication' would be from the discovery of a Bigger Brother that programs us to believe that the hellhole we've dug for ourselves is actually for the greater good.
