With respect to the 9/11 issues, the court makes it clear that the trial judge went overboard in protecting the defendant, even against his own attorney's actions in bringing up the subject at times

It remains only to add that Elgindy was, in the end,
acquitted of the obstruction of justice charges, which were the charges most directly linked to the 9/11-related evidence. This only serves to reconfirm that the district court’s careful efforts to remove any unfair prejudice from the introduction of 9/11-related evidence were extremely successful.
