Derivatives aren't a reasent invention, or one that has any important connection to Bush or any recent deregulation. Rebuying of loans did not always involved derivatives, and even when it did, it often could have been done without them. Derivatives are a tool that was misused by many people in this situation, which made the problem worse, but they where not the root of the problem.

I blame the Republicans for "deregulation"

What deregulation? Be real specific, what regulation was removed, that caused or made a major contribution to the current problems?

You talk about Fannie and Freddie and CRA as if THAT'S why banks made ALL those lousy loans.

I don't. They where important parts but not everything.
