Nat gas storage: Perspective about amount of gas in storage is about to shift a little.

>>>posted by margin at iV<<<

First we will get 150 to 160 draws for the next two weeks. Then as we roll into 2009, the rolling 5 year average for gas in storage takes a nice jump. 2003 was an outlier year with 2300 in storage entering the year. Last 4 years have been 2600, 2600, 3000, and 3100. This year should be right around 3000. So 5 year average will be more like 2900, refelcting increased capacity and removal of the 2003 number.

We will continue to get get storage numbers below last year and actually begin to see numbers below the 5 year average if the cold continues apace.

None of that will necessarily matter, but we have been seeing artificially low 5 year averages dragged down by 2003, and that is about to end.
