Jim, Winter Update, Yes, Accudean is one of what I call my "Magnificent Seven", a group of forecasters I follow, some famous, some not and while I am glad to summarize them here, I prefer not to mention them all.
Speaking of forecasts, here is an update...
After the Christmas Warm Up this week on the East Coast from PA south, even the Mid West may get a brief respite if not too far north, things are likely to change starting around Monday or so. January looks to have 15-21 days of cold weather relative to normal, probably as cold a January as we have had since 2000. However, after that cold spell, most of the Mag 7 believe that the powers of old Frosty will be depleted and the stage set for a warm-up that may last, for the most part, until spring.
I believe we will have a very cold period of at least two weeks in January over much of the nation especially the Mid West and East (VA north). However, as for the warm spell toward end of January and especially the warm spell's length, I have conficting views. So while I will admit the extended January Thaw is quite likely, I will hold off from endorsing an extensive "end of winter" January Thaw at this point.
PS, I don't remember if I mentioned it, but one of my Natural Indicators was calling for frequent and/or extensive ice storms, again, this winter, in my area. Good indicator, spot on two years in a row!
