Boy, talk about an overly optimistic hope!

The problem with your logic is that if we can't let them go BK when times are bad, they won't do anything different when times are good. That's what bad times are for - to weed out the inequities and the incompetents and restructure and strengthen the survivors. It will never happen if it does not happen now. Why would the unions give up anything if they know the government will protect them? Why would the management do anything different?

It is just throwing good money after bad. As the old song said, "When will they ever learn?"
