How can it be an issue? Look at a map of Puget Sound, it is very very large.

Because its not just the Sound........its the feeder streams into the Sound. Many of them are salmon runs. Salmon need fresh water when they swim upstream to spawn. In addition, there are other animals and plant life that require their water to be fresh, not brackish.

Having said all that, the need for salt is so rare in the PNW, I don't think it would have done much damge to have used it during the past two weeks. However, I defer to the scientists on that issue.
