There seem to be a number of people with Sleep Apnea on this thread so let me tell you about a breathing method I learned a few years ago that has helped my asthma. Its called the Buteyko method and was developed by a doctor in Russia.

Dr. Buteyko believed that many of the auto immune conditions like asthma, sleep apnea, allergies etc are caused by poor breathing. I know that sounds bizarre but I've learned a lot of breathing in the last few years and have come to realize that it can effect our health in many different ways.

In any case, there are some things he says one can do to reduce the effects of Sleep Apnea and other auto immune diseases:

1) don't breath thru your mouth esp. when you sleep.
2) never sleep on your back......best is on your left side, next right, next stomach but never on your back.
3)keep the room cool at nite when you sleep....overheating is bad while sleeping and will cause you to breath harder.
4) don't eat after 7 PM.........better to eat less meat and more fish and vegetables. Meat is harder to digest and worsens your breathing.
