I've solved that with various little wooden Roomba repellers positioned where they get stuck. I did finally break down and buy a regular vaccumn too, to get those off-the-floor places.

My Roomba Dirt Dog is pretty cool, I put him out on the pool deck and he goes right up to the pool and backs off. Never fallen in.
