Listen, the reason most people buy specific cars is a mix of practicality and self-image. People 'wear' their cars, like clothing. There are many, many people (especially on the west coast) that wouldn't be caught dead owning an American car.

Unfortunately, for GM, I wasn't one of them and I got hammered with my purchase of the Reatta.

And that's more of a problem for the big three than quality. How do you make a Ford or a Chevy a 'cool' car to own when people on public threads call them a POS and constantly reinforce that image? Hell that is one of the most difficult marketing jobs in the world.

I agree there is a 'coolness' problem with the big three.....esp on the West coast. However, there are a lot of people who would buy the big three but are not buying them now if their quality factor was the equivalent of TM's or Honda's. Lack of quality and innovation coupled with so so designs are killing them.
