Hollywood attracts good looking people who don't need to be particularly bright, nor do they need an education because education isn't rewarded there.

You would be surprised. The requirements to break into the industry are high. You have the exceptions.....like the Olson twins....but most successful actors have to be fairly well educated. You won't go far sounding like you grew up in the South Bronx and quit school when you were in the seventh grade. And you have some actors who are very bright and very well educated like Matt Damon and America Ferrera on Ugly Betty.
