Hi Alenor,

There are a lot of companies trading at fractions of earlier prices. I own several of them.
I'm looking for companies that can weather a long downturn. Ideally profitable companies with cash. I'm looking in recession resistant industries, healthcare, consumer staples and some infrastructure plays. I believe we are in for a long downturn and there will be some great new companies that prosper from the changes I'm sure we'll see.
I'd like to pick away at some low cost oil producers. Most juniors have high costs and need much higher oil prices to survive. I think some of the big producers with lots of cash can better take advantage of the slower economy. I'm thinking specifically of XOM. They'll be able to pick up some great assets at distressed prices over the next few years.
As for my small stuff, I'm a big fan of MDU-V as you can tell by the number of times I've posted about it. I have a US company I like ALHC. It's fundamentally very cheap and should do well in a slow economy. Otherwise I'm sitting on a pile of cash that I'm deploying very slowly. I'm spending the holidays looking for new ideas. I'll share what I find. Happy Holidays.
