DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 1997--Microware Systems Corporation (NASDAQ:MWAR) today
reported total revenues of $4.3 million for the second quarter ended September 30, 1997, a decrease of 41.4 percent from
the $7.3 million reported in the second quarter of the previous year. The net loss for the quarter ended September 30, 1997,
totaled ($3.6) million, or ($0.25) per share, compared to net income of $0.8 million, or $0.05 per share, reported in the
second quarter of last year. The net loss for the second quarter ended September 30, 1997, includes the reassessment and
write-down of certain intangible assets of $0.9 million and costs associated with organizational changes in the Company's U.S.
operations of $0.5 million. Weighted average shares outstanding, used in the computation of earnings per share for the second
quarters ended September 30, 1997 and 1996, were 14.4 and 16.3 million, respectively.
