Sam, I know you are a tought cookie. -g- I did not say KLAC is having trouble. What I meant was that their report indicated initial signs of trouble for fab-equipment. My read on KLAC is much similar to yours - orders for retooling look healthy to me. However, their statements do not bode well for "new fabs" which is where AMAT got a lot of orders recently.
Here is what they said:
New order volume was slightly below revenue levels, reflecting the anticipated impact of slower seasonal activity.

and...

New order demand drivers for the quarter continued to come from areas not directly related to new fab construction.

I, the kind of cynic I am (it comes from having burnt a few times -g-), put the two together and interpreted them as a signs of trouble related to orders from new fabs. Well, Lam Research conf. call and results confirm my sentiments.
As with KLAC, I have no grudge against the stock. I think it is just overpriced. I take it you have no objections to my statement related to KLIC. -g-

Anyhow, I am listening to you and closing a big chunk of my OEX position today.
