Maybe things would have turned out differently for the palestinians if they had backed the Allies instead of the Axis in WWII.

Excuse me but your view of what happened in Palestine vaguely resembles the truth. The Zionists getting Palestine had little to do with whom the Arabs backed during WW II and more to do with old fashioned politics. I suggest you read the history of Palestine from the late 19th century til 1947 when Israel was created. The only people who got screwed in the process were the Palestinians. It would be the equivalent of Russia deciding to move Iraq and the Iraqis to New Jersey and telling the residents of NJ to deal with it as NJ became New Iraq. The anger the Palestinians is long and deep, and since 1947, they have been living in refugee camps.

There are many reasons not to support the Israelis but what they did to Lebanon two summers ago makes my position irreversible.
