Pigboy - Re: " INTC must now rapidly push MMX into the mainstream and low end segments, and begin cutting prices on Pentium II in a manner which deviates ssignificantly from it's previously successful business model."

Intel started doing this 3+ months ago. Q3results provided the first yardstick - Intel made $1.57 Billion with a 3% to 4% decline in earnings - but still $1.57 Billion.

And AMD - Lost $67 million/$31 million

And Cyrix - Lost $700,000

Intel never had a glide path that was straight up, and it's current path certainly isn't straight up. That is nothing new.

Intel has succceeded by meeting and beating every competitive challenge - and it appears well on its way right now to do just that, facing the "latest & greatest" from AMD & Cyrix.

Re: "Does the hinted stuff Intel is working on include something about
voice recognition?"

At Intel, EVERYBODY already recognizes Andy Grove's voice.
