Hi Tom - I agree with your evaluation. I am currently testing my home based system as a Web server (and eventually as a secure transaction server) using my Ricochet connection as the back bone devise for full time connection to the Internet. The current server performance is acceptable with the 38.8 kbs thru-put and I now have it set up in background mode with similiar performance.

If Metricom could deliver the higher thru-put configuration next year, then I see this as another large market opportunity. AS COMPQ, Dell, and many other box makers begin to ship affordable integrated Web server boxes, Ricochet could be the best low cost "communication back bone" solution for small business.

ISDN and T1 connections are too expensive for the small business consumer. The Ricochet solution is cost effective and IMO provides enough performance to meet the low-end design requirements necessary for a small business to install a fully functional stand alone Web page and transaction server.

Perhaps, Metricom will also see this opportunity and market their service accordingly.
