I am an internist/pulmonologist (lung ds). Basically, gallium type scans have been used for diagnosing infections (not very specific). Diagnosing acute appendicitis vs. ovarian abscess/PID, etc., has always been a problem. I am sure that surgeons will like/use the PLTN diagnostic WBC test (rapid, safe, cost-effective). I don't know what the actual charge will be for testing and assume that private insurance, HMOs, Medicaid, Medicare, etc. will approve and pay accordingly. I can add more info after I research this diagnostic study a little more (will try to find some medical articles). I agree with your posts.
